If The World Was Ending : Fictional
If The World Was Ending : Fictional
1 day. 24 hours. 1,440 minutes. 86,400 seconds. And it was over. What would you do? Here’s what I did.
The year was 3336, a good old Saturday bloomed out, I woke up at 7 in the morning, thought everything was perfect in this world and brought off my morning routine. I trudged to the washroom with my eyes half closed. I heard people yelling on the streets, grabbing my ears’ attention. Not like I bothered to take it seriously, I simply continued flossing my teeth. Soon, I heard my mother scream,
“Oh god, watch the news!”
In the creaky stairs that haunt me even in broad daylight I walked. Like every other morning, my parents sat in the long in the tooth-looking living room in front of a small, dusty, sad TV which they watched up close with serious faces. Out in the blue, but out of the blue, I noticed the sky. It was charged with birds, some tweeted, the rest lunatically just flew all around. The blanket of birds concealed the daylight. At that moment, my gut started to have queasy feelings. But, I really wanted to dig into my breakfast. So, I brushed off the clear symptoms of shortly becoming sick to the stomach. I went to the kitchen to make my bowl of cereal while I overheard news reporters constantly speak with their high pitched voices.
I poured milk all over the kitchen aisle. Why? What I heard next on the news channel shocked me out of my wits!
Reporters from all over the world in every country jawed about a glass eyed alien in a disfigured body, which had abilities like a chameleon, could change colours and camouflage to the surroundings. And like a lizard, could climb walls and slither in complete silence. They called it “The Arsonist”. It descended with zillions of followers who came along with it to abduct poor Earth.
As soon as the reporter confirmed the news, the world began spending money, time, and love out of their minds with their friends, family and close ones. Sales for every brand skyrocketed crazy, and banks went broke.
Everyone had fun like there was no tomorrow. Or was there?
My parents called me with an unhappy voice.
“Sweetheart?”
Before they could hear a reply, I vanished. Up the stairs, into my room, called my friends, and scheduled a meet up. About 27 seconds after the conversation, I sneaked out through my window and ran like I’m from the wild. We met at the heart of the city and spent all our money on different games, went to rink-o-mania, and ate cultural foods. Did a lot more mischievous things that a teenager would pull off, got drunk, pranked our neighbours and what not. Before we could rush home to get under our blankets and pretend everything was alright, we heard a loud screeching sound. You have to know that it was deafening us. I looked up at the dark, and gloomy sky and noticed a neon green light flowing from a body made out of a clear material similar to glass in an ellipsoid shape. The people around us panicked, and so did we. Everyone ran, here and there, everywhere. It was not long before my nerdy friend figured that the green light had a strong force that was greater than gravity which could attract humans. Not fair, just human beings.
My friends and I instantly realized this was serious and ran for our lives away from the green lights. All of us sprinted to our homes and hid in the basement with our parents. After several minutes of nervousness, we heard a weird sound coming from outside the house. We went ahead towards the main door relentlessly and involuntarily, a force was pulling us. We suddenly ended up outside the house. Chaos far and wide. A huge something stood upon us. A creature with long pointy ears , an antenna in the middle of its forehead, with a purple and yellow swirl in its eye. Then, we comprehended why we were forcibly dragged to the front door.
It had hypnosis powers! It grasped us and threw us at the neon green light where we got sucked into an ellipsoid shaped spaceship with people. It was congested but more people still appeared which made it difficult to breathe. Moments after, everyone reached a point where they were just clinging on to dear life.
In a twinkling moment they took off with us on their spaceships and released us in the middle of the flight in an empty space to die without oxygen.
I woke up, looked around and all I saw was emptiness for miles. I walked to see if there was anything at all, but all I could see was a brown smudge at a distance. I proceeded to go closer till it was clear to me, a teak wood table.
I hesitantly went near the table hoping it would provide some information about where I was, but, adding on to my confusion, there was a paper on the table with questions written down. I assumed I had to answer them. I picked up the pen beside it and answered. The paper disappeared into thin air as I wrote the last word.
I was mind blown.
After a few minutes, I got beamed into a realm with white & golden colours. There were many people who did the things they liked. I met my mom there, she had ample thread to sew which was her favourite hobby. Unfortunately, I didn't meet my dad…I guess he failed the test and got into a realm with black & red colours. From what I have heard, they were supposed to do breathtaking tasks with very few benefits. Hell?
Every ending has a new beginning.
